Lean To etiquette
2 of us are planning a 2 night trip to the Lake Colden camp area mid-week in late September and hope to stay in one of the lean tos. (We will pack a tent just to be safe). The plan is to hit Colden, Cliff, Redfield, Gray and Skylight over the 2 days and use the lean to as a base camp. What is the protocol for leaving our non-hiking gear in the lean to during the day when we are hiking? Can we leave our sleeping bags unrolled? Do we need to pack everything up and move it outside of the lean to? We’ve stayed in lean tos before, but just overnight on a thru hike, so a multi-day stay is new to us. Just want to make sure we do the right thing. Thanks!

From what I’ve seen people do, is the same as a tent site. If you plan on spending a second night, you leave your tent up. Same with a Lean-To. Just keep your extra stuff and sleeping stuff laid out (without taking up too much space) and people should be considerate. It holds your spot, you just have to be comfortable leaving your stuff there.
