General Thread

I’m coming up next week to backpack in the high peaks. My plan originally was to get a bear can from the Loj, but I’m now starting at Upper Works trailhead to get to Marcy and so I can camp at Lake Colden.

Google maps says it’s an hour and a half drive to get from Upper Works to the Loj, as you have to go around the region. I’d really love to not add an hour and a half to my trip both ways to get the can and return the can - any suggestions? Somewhere along the route from the south that will rent a bear can? A way to at least return the bear can to the Loj without driving and hour and a half north before my 7 hour drive home?
