AMR Question: parking and hiking before 5am?
Next Wednesday I have a reservation with the goal of hiking Colvin Blake Dial and Nippletop with a friend. I want to begin hiking extremely early (like 1 am) so I can have ample time before an afternoon work shift. It seems like the lot is closed until 5am, so my question is how can I park before it opens? There appears to be parking across the road, and I just want to make sure that the correct move is to park there and walk past the gate. Last time I hiked this it was in the fall and with a group that handled getting us in, so I am unfamiliar with this system. Any clarity on how to park and hike before 5am would be greatly appreciated!

I would definitely say park across and walk in. Once you return, tell the parking guy your name and check in time so they can cross you off. They should have no problems with this. They’re pretty chill as long as you have a reservation.
