Great Range Traverse
Jonathan, long time fan of James Appleton who introduced us to your crazy escapades via his podcasts. We are 46’ers and accustom to the peaks. This July 4th we are challenging ourselves to compete the great range transverse with a Mt Marcy sunrise. We will be staying at the Rooster Comb Inn in Kenne Valley. We are huge fans of this Inn and appreciate how much they supported us in our journey to the 46. That said, we both enjoyed your YouTube coverage of the traverse as well as James review. We are spilt on starting from the garden versus staring at the LOJ. Did you start at the LOJ given your Lake Placid residence or because it was the better route? Did James do the same because of his residence or because it was the better route? The garden trail head is 1.6 miles from our Inn. Given the 1:30am expected start, if you were in my shoes, would you start close or drive to the LOJ?
