Street & Nye 8/27

As with most of the usually muddy trails this summer, the trail for this hike has a minimal amount of mud. For the most part where there is mud you are able to rock hop or easily scoot around it. The bog at the intersection for S&N and the bog heading up to Street were easily walked across. The blowdown on this hike is what gets you now. There is quite a bit and it really slows you down the higher up you climb. There are also many new human herd paths being formed to avoid it so keep your eyes open. Crossing over Indian Pass Brook is easy right now ( I have crossed it in waist deep water before). There are many spots to cross it. I prefer to wait until I get about 1.5 miles in. There is a cairn and this crossing leads you directly to the herd path on the other side. Btw…. I started my watch at the Loj Rd. This am we were in the clouds toward the peak with some rain. It made for a slippery hike, using extra caution on the roots going down. A great hike to be in the clouds seeing how the views are minimal anyway. As always be safe, leave no trace and happy hiking to all!!
