8/2 - Allen Mountain
8/2 - Allen Mountain: It was a beautiful day for a very (very) long walk in the woods. East River Trail was mostly dry. There are several mud pits along the way, a few were deep, but most had logs/rocks to get through without much hassle. It's possible to rock hop the Opalescent River. We crossed maybe 100 feet to the right of where the old bridge would have been. The Allen Trail had it's share of mud but manageable. The "red slime" was definitely visible. However, there are a lot of dry slabs to step on as a work around. As you make the final push to the summit, hug the left side of the slide. There are some pretty fantastic hidden views from the top too. Just go to the
right of the summit sign and you'll see a path. Conditions are always changing, but if you need Allen, go now.
