The MacIntyre Range takes its name from Archibald MacIntyre, leader of the McIntyre Iron Works, and it remains one of the most visible high ridges from the Lake Placid side of the High Peaks. Algonquin was once known as Mount MacIntyre before the name changed in the 1800s, and the range became a central part of early High Peaks exploration. Boundary Peak adds another layer of history between Algonquin and Iroquois, tracing its name to survey work rather than to the 46er list itself. Wright adds a different kind of story: its exposed summit holds a memorial connected to a World War II-era aircraft crash. Together, the range feels less like three disconnected summits and more like one compact, historic, alpine corridor.

Standard Route
Route Overview
This standard route climbs from Adirondack Loj to the Wright Peak junction, adds Wright as the first side trip, continues to Algonquin, crosses toward Boundary and Iroquois, then returns over Algonquin and descends the same way to the Loj.
Selected Route Access
Start from Adirondack Loj / HPIC and follow the MacIntyre Range approach rather than the Marcy Dam route. The standard return comes back over Algonquin and down the same corridor.
Selected Route Caution
The MacIntyre Range is exposed, steep, and weather-sensitive. Wright and Algonquin can be windy and cold even on fair days, and the Iroquois herd path adds rougher, narrower, less protected travel beyond Algonquin.
