Terms

These terms govern use of Hike ADK. By using the website, users agree to use the information responsibly and verify current conditions before making outdoor decisions.

Last updated: June 8, 2026

Planning information only

Hike ADK provides hiking research, destination information, route context, preparation resources, weather tools, and related Adirondack information. It is not a live navigation system, emergency service, guiding service, or guarantee of trail conditions.

Users are responsible for verifying current conditions, closures, access rules, parking rules, weather, regulations, trailhead status, and their own ability before hiking.

Outdoor risk

Hiking and outdoor recreation involve risk. Terrain, weather, water crossings, ice, mud, road access, wildlife, fatigue, injury, darkness, and navigation errors can create serious consequences.

Hike ADK information does not remove those risks. Users remain responsible for their own choices, preparation, route decisions, equipment, group management, and turnaround decisions.

No emergency use

Do not use Hike ADK for emergency communication. In an emergency, call 911 or the appropriate official agency. If Forest Ranger assistance is needed in New York, contact emergency services or DEC Dispatch through official channels.

Accuracy and changes

Hike ADK works to keep information accurate, but trail conditions, access rules, regulations, route details, road status, weather, facilities, and public-land guidance can change without notice.

Hike ADK may update, correct, remove, or reorganize content at any time.

Third-party links and services

Hike ADK may link to official agencies, weather providers, maps, webcams, reservation systems, guide services, tourism resources, and other third-party websites. Those sites are controlled by their own operators and policies.

User submissions

Users may submit contact messages, corrections, photos, captions, trail information, or other content. By submitting content, users confirm they have the right to share it and allow Hike ADK to review, store, edit, publish, or decline it.

Hike ADK may remove or decline submissions for accuracy, safety, legal, moderation, quality, or editorial reasons.

SMS and email updates

If SMS trail alerts or email updates are offered, users must provide accurate contact information and may receive service messages related to the requested alert or subscription. Message frequency may vary. Message and data rates may apply. Users can unsubscribe through the instructions provided with the messages.

Intellectual property

Site design, text, structure, photography, graphics, maps, logos, and other materials are owned by Hike ADK or used with permission unless otherwise noted. Users may not copy, republish, scrape, or commercially reuse site content without permission.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Hike ADK is not responsible for injuries, losses, damages, route decisions, access problems, missed closures, weather changes, or other consequences arising from use of the website or outdoor recreation decisions.
