Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Baker Mountain is the classic quick summit hike above Saranac Lake, reached from Forest Hill Avenue and valued for its short distance, steep climb, and immediate views. The route gains elevation quickly through forest and rocky terrain before reaching lookouts over Saranac Lake, Lake Flower, and the High Peaks to the east. It is popular, compact, and easier to fit into a short outing than most Adirondack summits, but the grade still feels surprisingly stout for the mileage. overall. today.
