Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Bear Den Mountain is a compact Lake Placid 9er hike on the shoulder of Whiteface Mountain, starting from the Bear Den Lot at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center. The route climbs through the ski-area trail network and nearby forest to a small summit viewpoint above Wilmington. It is short enough for a half-day outing, but the climb is steeper than the mileage suggests, with more effort than a flat family walk. Use it as a moderate, accessible mountain hike with strong Whiteface-area context rather than a remote wilderness objective.
