Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Bear Mountain is a moderate hike in the Cranberry Lake area, most directly reached from DEC's Cranberry Lake Campground and Day Use Area. The loop climbs through forest, passes the Bear Mountain lean-to, and continues beyond the mostly wooded summit to ledge viewpoints overlooking Cranberry Lake. It is more substantial than the shortest local nature walks but still approachable for hikers who want a manageable half-day summit. A longer approach from Route 3 is also possible when campground access is not the desired starting point.
Access
Clustered Cranberry Lake access hub. May need multiple trailhead records.
