Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Bear Pond is a moderate loop-style pond hike from the Putnam Pond area into Pharaoh Lake Wilderness. The route uses campground and day-use access, follows forest trail and campground road, and reaches several water features, including Heart Pond, Bear Pond, North Pond, and Rock Pond. Bear Pond Trail leaves Clear Pond Trail shortly after the Putnam Pond Campground Trailhead North, passes Bear Pond, and continues toward Rock Pond. The outing has enough distance, junctions, and rolling terrain to feel more involved than a short pond stroll, but it remains a practical day hike for hikers comfortable with moderate mileage.
