Route Guidance
Black Bear Mountain is a substantial but approachable summit hike near Inlet. The standard Route 28 approach follows an old rocky woods road, reaches a trail split, crosses a wet area on boardwalk, and then climbs more steeply toward the summit. Near the top, rockier footing and partial views lead into several summit viewing areas. The longer loop continues over the mountain and returns through a quieter trail corridor, while an alternate Uncas Road approach reaches the summit from the other side. This is one of the larger Fulton Chain Trifecta hikes.
