Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Black Mountain is one of the stronger summit hikes on the east side of Lake George, combining a steady climb with broad regional views and a more substantial wilderness feel than many short lake-area hikes. The eastern approach from Pike Brook Road climbs 2.5 miles and gains 1,239 feet to the summit, with a 5.6-mile loop option returning through the Black Mountain Pond, Millman Pond, and Lapland Pond area. The destination fits hikers who want a real climb without entering the High Peaks.
