Trail Overview
Blue Mountain Fire Tower is one of the signature hikes of the central Adirondacks, rising above Blue Mountain Lake and Lake Durant. The Blue Mountain Trail climbs steadily from State Route 30 to a rocky summit with partial views in several directions. The open fire tower adds the major payoff, expanding the view toward Lake Durant, Blue Mountain Lake, Raquette Lake, the Essex Chain Lakes, Blue Ridge, Vanderwhacker Mountain, and the High Peaks. It is short in mileage but steep enough to feel like a real mountain climb.
