Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Catamount Mountain is a short but serious hike in Taylor Pond Wild Forest, known for packing steep climbing and exposed terrain into a relatively compact route. The trail climbs from the Catamount Mountain trailhead through forest before reaching a chimney scramble, open rock, ledges, and the summit. Hikers go for the views toward Taylor Pond, Silver Lake, Union Falls Pond, Whiteface, and nearby ranges. It is not a beginner friendly summit despite the low mileage, because the upper route is steep, exposed, and requires careful foot placement.
