Trail Overview
Cathedral Pines is a very short roadside nature walk off NY 28 near Eighth Lake, best used as a leg-stretching stop rather than a full hike. The easy 0.1-mile loop starts near a small DEC sign and roadside parking, then passes impressive stands of white pines and a memorial to Malcolm Blue, a local ranger killed in World War II. The experience is simple but worthwhile: step off the busy highway, walk a brief forest loop, and spend a few minutes under unusually large Adirondack pines.
