Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Cobble Lookout is a short Wilmington Wild Forest hike on the southwestern face of the Stephenson Range. The trail follows a gentle contour to a broad rocky ledge, making it one of the more accessible viewpoint hikes near Wilmington and Whiteface. The trail runs 1.3 miles one way and passes an old rock quarry near the beginning, which gives the lookout its name. The view opens toward Whiteface Mountain, the Ausable River drainage, Jay Mountain, Hurricane Mountain, and surrounding peaks. It is a strong option when hikers want a real lookout without a hard climb.
