Trail Overview
Cooper Kiln Pond, also called Cooper Kill Pond by DEC, sits between the Stephenson Range and Wilmington Range in the Wilmington Wild Forest. Hikers go for a quiet pond destination with mountain views, a lean-to, camping context, and a backcountry feel close to Wilmington. The western approach from Gillespie Drive/Franklin Falls Road is the shorter common out-and-back, while the eastern approach from Bonnieview Road is steeper and longer. Expect a forested climb, wet or eroded sections, possible beaver flooding, and a descent to the pond shore rather than a broad summit-style viewpoint.
