Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Crane Mountain is one of the more adventurous non-High Peaks summit hikes in the southern Adirondacks. The route is short on paper but physically engaging, with steep grades, exposed rock, ladder sections on some route variations, and several ways to combine the summit with Crane Mountain Pond. Multiple trails start from the Crane Mountain Road parking area, and one common 3.8-mile round trip links pond, ridge, and summit scenery. It fits hikers who want a compact but rugged mountain day with real climbing feel.
