Route Guidance

Trail Overview

Deer Leap is one of the shorter Lake George overlook hikes, accessed from the Deer Leap Parking Area on State Route 9N. The Deer Leap Trail runs 1.7 miles from the parking area to Deer Leap, making the standard hike about 3.4 miles round trip. It intersects the Tongue Mountain Range Trail at 0.6 miles before continuing through rolling terrain to the overlook. The hike is short compared with the full Tongue Range, but it still includes climbing and descending that can feel more rugged than a simple roadside viewpoint.
