Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Flume Knob is a compact but strenuous Wilmington-area hike in the Wilmington Wild Forest. The route uses part of the Wilmington Flume Trail Network before turning onto a hiking-only climb for the final approach to the knob. Hikers go for a short outing with a steep workout and a rocky viewpoint over Wilmington, the West Branch of the Ausable River area, the Jay Range, and the Sentinel Range. The lower route can feel confusing because it shares a mountain-bike trail network, so this hike is more navigation-sensitive than its mileage suggests.
