Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Frederica Mountain is the only mountain in the William C. Whitney/Round Lake wilderness area with a maintained public trail to its summit. From the Lake Lila side, the route uses an old private access road before turning onto the mountain trail, which climbs more directly toward ledges and summit viewpoints. Hikers go for the remote feel, Lake Lila scenery, historic Great Camp context, and views over water, islands, coves, and low Adirondack wilderness. The hike is moderate overall, with easier road walking followed by a more defined climb near the mountain.
