Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Gore Mountain is best treated as a full mountain hike via the Schaefer Trail from the North Creek Ski Bowl. The route begins near the Ski Bowl, follows blue markers through forest, crosses or parallels Roaring Brook, passes reservoir and ski-area terrain, and eventually reaches the summit area and fire tower. Regional and conservation route descriptions consistently frame it as a 9.4-mile round trip, making it a bigger effort than many lower-elevation Adirondack hikes. The experience blends wild forest walking with ski-area infrastructure and broad views toward Lake George and the High Peaks.
