Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Hitchins Pond is best treated as the lower-elevation Bog River approach toward Lows Upper Dam and the Hitchins Pond/Lows Lake area. The route follows a gated dirt road through forest, bog, wetland, and old road scenery, making it easier underfoot than many Adirondack foot trails while still feeling remote. The main destination is the water-and-dam corridor, with the Lows Ridge/Hitchins Pond Overlook available as a more scenic extension. The route fits hikers who want quiet wetlands, paddling history, dam scenery, and a remote approach without a steep summit climb.
