Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Indian Head is known for one of the Adirondack Park’s signature views: Lower Ausable Lake framed by steep walls and High Peaks terrain. The common approach begins from the AMR/St. Huberts access point, follows Lake Road for much of the approach, then climbs toward the overlook. Because access depends on private-easement rules, reservations, and site restrictions, confirm current AMR guidance before planning this hike.
Access
AMR access is central to planning Indian Head, so reservation and private-easement details need to stay prominent.
Lake Road
The approach includes Lake Road and reads as a road-walk plus footpath route, not a generic loop.
Lookout
This is a scenic lookout objective, not a mountain summit.
Access
AMR access is reservation-based during the active reservation season. Confirm current AMR rules before planning this hike.
Cautions
This is private-easement access with specific rules. Confirm current reservation and dog/access guidance before planning.
