Route Guidance
Trail Overview
McKenzie Mountain is one of the harder non-High-Peak mountain hikes around Lake Placid and Saranac Lake. From the Whiteface Inn Lane approach, the route begins more gradually before committing to steeper, rougher climbing, including trail junctions, slabby sections, and multiple summit bumps. The mountain is the highest of the Saranac Lake 6ers and rewards the effort with ledge views toward Whiteface, the Saranac Lakes, and the High Peaks. This is a real mountain day, not a casual village hike.
