Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Mount Van Hoevenberg is a moderate summit hike near Lake Placid with two useful public approaches and strong views for the effort. The East Trail begins from the Olympic Sports Complex/Mt Van Hoevenberg area and is known for modern, sustainable trail construction and open High Peaks views near the summit. A West Trail from South Meadow provides another route option. The mountain is a good bridge between easy Lake Placid hikes and larger High Peaks objectives, with enough climbing to feel rewarding but not overwhelming.
