Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Owls Head Lookout is a rewarding viewpoint hike near Keene and Elizabethtown, distinct from the private-land Owls Head Mountain in Keene and the fire tower mountain near Long Lake. The route is generally described as a moderate out-and-back that climbs through mixed forest before reaching an open lookout. Hikers go for the broad ledge view toward Giant Mountain, Rocky Peak Ridge, the Boquet valley, and the surrounding High Peaks edge. It works well as a scenic half-day objective.
