Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Panther Mountain near Tupper Lake is a small summit with a surprisingly strong payoff. The trail climbs quickly from the roadside into Saranac Lakes Wild Forest and finishes on an open ledge above Panther Pond. It is best described as a compact viewpoint hike: brief, direct, and more rugged than its size suggests, especially when the ledge or upper trail is wet or icy.
Access
Trail is located across the road from the Panther Mountain Parking Area.
Seasonal Notes
The Saranac Lakes Wild Forest is open year-round with no fee.
Cautions
Very steep for its short distance; use caution on wet or icy footing and around the open ledge.
