Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Puffer Pond is a deeper backcountry objective in Siamese Ponds Wilderness, suited to hikers who want a quieter pond destination and a more committed interior approach. The route uses the Old Farm Clearing trail network and passes through varied forest terrain before reaching the pond setting. It is a full-day water destination rather than a short shoreline walk.
Access
Route uses Old Farm Clearing: 1.6 miles on East Branch Trail to East Puffer Pond Trail, then 4.3 miles to the West Puffer Pond Trail at Puffer Pond.
Seasonal Notes
Siamese Ponds Wilderness is open year-round with no fee.
Cautions
This is a longer, more remote approach than the mileage alone may suggest. Elevation gain is modest overall but varies by route segment, with rolling terrain and interior travel slowing the day.
