Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Saddleback Mountain is the final major summit in the common Haystack, Basin, and Saddleback loop from The Garden. It is known for steep, rugged terrain and a position that makes the descent and exit feel long after the summit work is done.
Access
Major Johns Brook Valley hub. Parking restrictions and shuttle context should be tracked.
Cautions
Saddleback comes late in a demanding Great Range day. Steep rock, fatigue, changing weather, and the remaining descent toward Orebed Brook can all slow the route.
