Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Safford Pond is a longer, quieter pond destination in the Fulton Chain Wild Forest trail network near Big Moose Road. The route builds from the Orvis Road area and continues beyond the West Pond corridor on the Safford Pond Trail, giving hikers a more secluded pond objective than the short falls walk nearby. DEC materials confirm the Safford Pond Trail and its connection through the Orvis, West Pond, Safford Pond, Goose Pond, and Rondaxe Road corridor. Expect a wooded route with snowmobile-trail character, modest climbing, and wet or seasonally soft sections.
