Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Severance Mountain is a compact summit hike near Schroon Lake in the eastern Adirondacks. The route runs 1.2 miles to the summit with 790 feet of ascent, beginning from a Route 9 trailhead and passing under the Northway before climbing the mountain. The payoff is a scenic view toward Schroon Lake and the Pharaoh Lake Wilderness. It is short enough to fit into a partial day, but the elevation gain comes quickly enough to feel steeper than many easy low-mileage hikes.
