Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Silver Lake Bluffs stands out because the hike changes character quickly, moving from bog boardwalk and quiet wetland habitat into a short climb to a bluff above Silver Lake. It is a compact interpretive-style hike with stronger scenery than its size suggests, making it useful for families, newer hikers, and anyone looking for a low-commitment overlook with real Adirondack character.
Access
The Nature Conservancy gives access from Old Hawkeye Road in Black Brook. The preserve is about 0.2 miles down Old Hawkeye Road on the right. Parking area is not plowed in winter.
Seasonal Notes
Open year-round from dawn to dusk. The Nature Conservancy prohibits camping, fires/cooking, bicycling, hunting/trapping, littering, and off-trail damage.
Cautions
Boardwalk can be slippery when wet; the preserve parking area is not plowed in winter. Stay on marked trails and keep dogs leashed.
