Trail Overview
Snowy Mountain Fire Tower is one of the classic central Adirondack fire tower climbs. At about 3,899 feet, Snowy is taller than Couchsachraga, the shortest mountain on the traditional 46er list, and it sits around the top 50 of the Adirondack Hundred Highest. The route starts from the Snowy Mountain Trail parking area on Route 30 and begins more gradually before steepening hard near the summit. Hikers go for a challenging half-day climb, forested approach miles, stream crossings, a restored tower, and a mountain profile that is easy to recognize from many other Adirondack summits.
