Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Taylor Pond is best understood as a water-and-forest destination rather than a summit or overlook. The pond anchors a broad public-land complex of low hills, forest, campground access, and trail corridors in the northeastern Adirondacks. Hikers can use it for a quiet shoreline outing, a low-elevation forest walk, or a gentler alternative to nearby summit objectives.
Access
From Taylor Pond Trailhead, the trail forks 0.4 mile from the trailhead; Taylor Pond Trail South goes left to a lean-to on the southern shore.
Seasonal Notes
Taylor Pond Wild Forest is open year-round with no fee. Campground day-use parking can shorten the route, but a fee is charged when the campground is operating.
Cautions
Taylor Pond has multiple access contexts, including campground and trailhead approaches. Confirm the intended starting point before comparing mileage or planning the day.
