Route Guidance

Trail Overview

Tirrell Pond is a scenic backcountry pond reached from the Blue Mountain/Tirrell Pond trailhead near Route 28/30. The route follows the Tirrell Pond Trail for about 3.3 miles one way, climbing gradually at first before dropping toward the pond and intersecting the Northville-Placid Trail near the shoreline. Hikers go for the quiet woods approach, views toward Blue and Buck mountains along the trail, and the sandy beach and lean-to near the north end of the pond. The return is more demanding than the approach because the descent to the pond becomes the main climb out.
