Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Trout Pond is a quiet pond destination in Hammond Pond Wild Forest near Moriah, reached from the Round Pond Trailhead on Ensign Pond Road. The hike is short and moderate-easy, with a 2.5-mile round-trip version and about 250 feet of elevation gain when continuing to nearby Round Pond. The route follows the Round Pond Trail through forest, reaches Trout Pond early, and then traces the pond's west side before continuing toward Round Pond. It is best treated as a low-key water-focused hike rather than a summit outing, with fishing, snowshoeing, and a classic Adirondack pond setting as the main appeal.
