Trail Overview
Wakely Mountain Fire Tower is a longer fire tower objective in the Blue Ridge Wilderness area, approached from the Wakely Dam side on a straightforward but sustained trail. The hike is not technically complex, but the round-trip distance, steady climbing, and remote Central Adirondack setting make it feel more committing than many short fire tower walks. Its defining feature is the 70-foot steel tower, widely cited as the tallest fire tower in the Adirondacks and one of the highest in New York State. The reward is a historic summit tower, a big interior-Adirondack viewpoint, and the feeling of reaching a quieter central Adirondack peak.
