Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Woodhull Mountain is one of the longer Adirondack fire-tower hikes, reached from the McKeever side of the Black River Wild Forest. The South Branch Trail follows an administrative road for much of the approach before climbing to the 2,363-foot summit and fire tower. The route is not known for steep scrambling; the challenge is the long mileage, remote setting, and sustained time commitment. Views come from the fire tower area, with the DEC route climbing most noticeably in the final two miles. This is a full outing, not a quick tower hike.
