Elk Lake Trailhead Parking Question
I am considering hiking the Dix Range from the Elk Lake trailhead on Saturday, July 26. I have heard that I will need to arrive very early to get a parking spot. I’m looking for info on how early and the odds that there are no spots available even if I arrive early. Thanks in advance

If you aren't sure about Elk Lake parking, you can get to Dix or Grace via Rt. 73. The drawback is that it adds distance to an already arduous hike if you want to do the entire range. If you're content to do less than the whole range, consider starting ftom Rt. 73, either Round Pond or Bouquet River.
