Share Your Hike

On 8/31 I became 46er #16,638 with a hike to the summits of Gray, Skylight and Marcy. A great day to hike, very cool in the early morning and a fast trail. There was a bit of water from recent rain, but nothing that couldn’t be managed. The floating logs were just logs. Cruised right through with no problem. Missed the turn to Gray and had to double back, adding steps to an already lengthy hike. The view from Gray was nice, but Skylight and Marcy were nothing short of spectacular. You had to earn the view from Marcy- going up the back side is a real calf-burner. It was a long walk out, but I was so happy to have completed my “retirement project” that the miles just flew by. I started in June of 2023 and it took me 28 trips to the ADKs to get it done. I have already started repeating some peaks with my granddaughter and am deciding on my next challenge; maybe the LP 9er?
