6/19: Lake Durant to Long Lake (Northville-Placid Trail)
Revisited the Lake Durant to Long Lake section yesterday, and it’s in solid shape. The trail is mostly dry, with just a few classic soupy Adirondack mud pockets. The corridor is lush and alive—overgrown in stretches, with ferns spilling into the path like they’re trying to give you a big ‘ole hug.
Tirrel Pond glowed in the afternoon light—still, golden, and rimmed with deep green. Water sources along the route are flowing well, and the trail is clear of blowdowns. That said, the black flies are very active—bring a head net unless you enjoy a little character-building buzz.
