Marcy, Basin, Haystack from Loj, 6/30/25
My friend and I hiked from the Adirondack Loj and enjoyed dry conditions on the Van Hoevenberg trail up to Marcy. There were some bugs on the trails down to Basin and Haystack and a handful of muddy spots, but my friend was comfortable without gaiters. On the way back we ran low on water and went down the Hopkins trail to see if there was any in the Marcy Brook, and even though that trail was heinously muddy, there was not a flowing stream of water. Aside from that detour, the trails were in very good shape and suitable for a fun hike.
