Route Guidance
Trail Overview
Macomb Mountain is commonly the first summit in the Elk Lake Dix Range loop, reached by a steep slide approach that gives the day its early character. The summit opens the route toward South Dix, Hough, Dix, and Grace depending on the plan.
Access
Primary southern Dix Range access. Seasonal access notes needed.
Cautions
Macomb’s slide can be loose, steep, and slow, especially when wet or icy. Treat the slide as a real terrain feature, not just a shortcut to the ridge.
